Where Tradition Meets Excellence
Exceptional wines from the heart of the Douro Valley
Discover Our WinesBuilt in 1803, right after the War of the Oranges, Quinta Barreiro stands as a testament to centuries of winemaking resilience. Just six years after our founding, the Battle of the Douro in 1809 disrupted production throughout the valley, yet our quinta endured, continuing a tradition that spans over two centuries.
Nestled on the slopes of the Douro River near Régua, Quinta Barreiro takes its name from the hill upon which our vineyards flourish. Our winemaking philosophy uniquely blends local Douro traditions with the influence of Burgundy-style wines—mineral-driven, terroir-focused, and meticulously crafted.
Everything is done by hand in the vineyard. This artisanal approach, combined with our focus on terroir expression, creates wines that capture the essence of our hillside vineyards and the unique character of the Douro Valley. Each bottle tells the story of patience, skill, and reverence for the land.

Crafted by Julia and Sephi Shapira, our wines blend Douro tradition with Burgundy influence— mineral-driven, terroir-focused, and entirely handcrafted in the vineyard.
